How do I check whether my date is free?

Send your date, venue and rough timings through the enquiry form. I check the diary and reply personally with availability and a price for what you've described. Nothing is held until we've both confirmed it in writing.

Where are you based and how far do you travel?

I'm based in Glasgow and work across Scotland — regularly through Renfrewshire, Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, Loch Lomond, Stirling, Falkirk and Edinburgh, and further afield where the timings allow.

Is travel included in the price?

Travel is included for most Glasgow and central Scotland venues. For venues further out a travel cost may apply, and it is confirmed on your quote before you book rather than added later.

Are you insured, and is your equipment tested?

Yes. JMD Entertainments holds £10 million Public Liability Insurance and all equipment is PAT tested. Venues that ask for both before allowing a set-up are sent them directly.

What is included as standard?

Every booking includes a professional DJ, a modern sound system, dancefloor lighting, a wireless microphone, set-up and pack-down, and music planned around your must-plays and do-not-plays.

Can we choose the music?

Yes. Once booked you get access to an online Event Planner for your first dance, requests, do-not-plays, timings and event details. On the night I read the room around that rather than working through a fixed list.

Do you take requests on the night?

That's your call. Requests can be welcomed, filtered through your do-not-play list, or switched off entirely. Anything on your do-not-play list stays off, whoever asks.

Will you make announcements or host?

Accepted Answer

Yes — room entrance, speeches, first dance, cake cutting, buffet and last song, all handled clearly and without unnecessary chat on the microphone. If you'd rather someone else speaks, that's fine too.

How and when do we pay?

Accepted Answer

A booking retainer of 30% of the agreed booking price secures your date, and it is non-refundable. For weddings the remaining 70% balance is due 7 days before the event. Bank transfer is the preferred payment method; for kids' parties payment can be made by bank transfer or cash on the day.

What if our venue has a sound limiter or a curfew?

Both are common and both are manageable. Tell me your venue on enquiry and I'll check the limits in advance so the night still sounds full rather than constantly cutting out.
